THE REPORT

Hey guys, sorry for the lapse in reports there, but it’s been kind of hectic around here with guiding every day, the new puppy to take care of and train, drinking beer out at the barn after work, etc, etc… Many of my early open dates did fill and I had a half day trip this morning for day seven of what will be a ten day streak unless someone wants to fill Monday and/or Tuesday to keep it going strong! ;^)

Actually, John and I both have Monday and Tuesday open so a group trip might be fun as well! Our “combined current” openings thru October 15th are: (*denotes both of us open.) September 3*, 4*, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9*, 15, October 7, 8, 11, 14, 15*

Fishing remains about the same in the lower river, hit and miss as far as the bite goes, low clear water so low light is better and we need some rain! That being said, some fish are pushing thru each day and those that do grace us with their presence on the end of the line after a hard crushing bite are often times very hard to close the deal on for the grip and grin!

Here are some of the more “memorable” catches since last report!

Luckily, there was no body caught with that shoe, but I do plan to have it mounted on a plaque in the pole barn with the photo by the time the guys make it up next year! He, he, he…

Word has it that the mid and upper sections are starting to fill in a bit and a few more good spots can be found in most sections beyond just the normal early holes for drifting flies thru them. We’re sticking it out for as long as we can down low preferring the kind of take you get down there, but these are reliable sources we’ve heard from up here…

Not much more to add really, we’ll be sure to let you know when it really bust loose in a big way, but for now you need to know the spots they’re in or cover a lot of water to find them up higher. Down lower take advantage of the low light hours (Morning or evening.) and if you get lucky you’ll find a few players during the day.

Thanks to everyone I’ve had over the past seven days, it’s been great fun each and every one of them and I look forward to seeing the rest of you either in my boat, on the river or around the Shop, Barn, Motel compound during the course of the season! If the big door is open feel free to stop by and say hi…

Tight lines all,
Steve
