Well… Week five was just as fun as weeks 1 thru 4 and my “guiding season” up here is over. I’m sitting at Eddies Fireplace Inn right now just waiting on the next plane with part of our first BBT weeks crew and don’t have much time to write, but I did get a few photos uploaded from this past week.
A nice Pike from the slew across from camp.
Spent Sunday over at Brooks with a crew and had a good time as always working around the Bears.
Had to wait on this one to get out of the boat.
Monday was a fly out over to Contact Creek where the fishing was spectacular as usual and we caught Char, Grayling, Rainbows and Chums.
The Grayling is actually a pretty fish...
Tuesday was Margot and Brooks then Wednesday was Idavain for Grayling and Rainbows. Lost count of the grayling in the 8 to 18 inch range we caught on dry flies. Needless to say it was awesome and we caught a few Bows down by the mouth.
On Thursday it was back to Contact…
Making contact at Contact.
On Friday we attempted a fly out to Fetherly, a creek with giant Char down by the Ugashik, but were thwarted by weather and filled a fish box with Sockeye from the Naknek instead in the afternoon. Walt spent the day down river with Lou and Bart and they had the first really good day swinging streamers for Kings in Big Creek!
I think they went something like 8 for 14 on the swing with spey rods, very cool!
Got to cut this short now, but I’ll try to post next Saturday and fill you in on all the fun we’ll have this week. I love my job and putting people on fish, but it’ll also be fun to play client the next two weeks as well!!
Tight Lines All,
Steve
