Still going…
Not nearly as strong as it was over the past couple of weeks right now, but still plenty of fish to be found and fought as well as lots of fun to be had! I have no idea if we’ll see another push or not like we did during that hot weather spell and high water, but word from down river is good in that fresh fish continue to show up daily and we are still finding those in the holes like these from just yesterday...
Yesterday was day 16 in what was to be a 26 day streak, but I just found out I had a cancelation for that 26th day… Saturday, April 7th is now open if anyone is interested and I’m sure the guy that had to cancel wouldn’t mind if it re-booked. I’d love to have you and I’ll still be as fired up about the day as I have been every day!
I’ve got almost no time before my trip today so I’m not going to even try any kind of blow by blow here, but I do want to say thanks to Steve & Pat from the 20th, Brad, Donathon & Arnold from the 21st, Kevin, Paul & Mike from the 22nd and 23rd, Perry & Gordon from the 24th, Patrick & Keith from the 25th, Heeb & Bob from the 26th and Mike (As well as Jeff and Steve) from the 27th and 28th. It was great having you all and I’ll be looking forward to the next time!
Wish I did have time for more details as there were some hilarious moments as well as other great stories to be told, but the gist of it is that we’ve had one heck of a season thus far and everyone is having a blast. My “guess” is that we will see fresh fish continue to come in over the course of April as we always do, but the peak was early this year and the key to success will be keeping a finger on the pulse of the river as we do or just simply falling into it during a day’s rotation. (For those of us that actually rotate! ;^)

The trout are fat and happy and during the warmer parts of the day (Been kind of cold in the morning here lately!) we’ve been seeing some nice risers. Haven’t spent a lot of time with the trout rods out just yet, but we will start mixing it up between spots anytime now for mixed bag trips. Donathan caught a dandy for his first fish of the day while out with Dad and Grandpa the other day, but unfortunately below is the best I could do to fix the blur on my photo. (Maybe Dad got a better shot? If so, please send it to me…)
Another huge thanks goes out to everyone supporting us here at the shop and in the motel this season. The shelves are still full and we’ve got what you’ll need. I look forward to seeing many of you over the next month here that haven’t made it up yet and I’m sure a few of you for your next go around. Don’t forget to grab your 10% off card for Barski’s when you stop by, the food is fantastic!
Seriously running out of time here now so I’ll just leave it with a few more photos from the past week. It’s been great seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces as we make our way down the river and I have to say this has been one of the most polite season’s I’ve seen in a while. Let’s keep it up, who needs to see a mean mug face while out enjoying nature!
On a quick and sad side note, we did lose an angler while launching his boat just this past week. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of course and it reminds us to not only respect the other anglers while out on the river as mentioned above, but PLEASE respect the river herself...
Tight lines all,
Steve
