Hi guys, I'm going to try and make this short and sweet, but you know how that goes sometimes. First off, if you don't know already, my cousin's and I cut safe passage by that tree in the upper fly water on Wednesday, but it's just a temporary fix for now and all that was legal to do without talking with the landowner, fed, etc... I've got a few ideas to discuss with them and I'm sure the site will be revisited, but you can get by it for now.
It'll need a little more detailed work, but we did cut safe passage...
My cousin Mark with a nice Brown after that.
Fishing was pretty darn good last week from about Tuesday to Friday for us with multiple hookups on Steelhead each day and a few trout mixed in. Lots of fresh fish had/have pushed into the system with the two earlier high water events and slightly higher stained water combined with very little traffic made those fish fairly easy targets to at least hook up with.
Tuesday.
Wednesday.
Thursday.
Friday.
Most of those days we only brought one or two of those hot Steelhead to hand, (John has some other photos and we lost 'em all on Friday but did get that nice LRB.) but it sure was a lot of fun having it handed to us by the ones that got away. My cousin James and I actually had a double going for a while on Wednesday with our fish cartwheeling over each other before his came unbuttoned at the last minute! (Dang! That would have made a sweet photo for the family album...)
The water cleared up fast however and the weather was almost too nice over the weekend. That nice weather brought out a lot of folks all by its self and that, combined with the tournament put a lot of extra pressure on the fish that they hadn't seen yet putting many of them down or in the wood/undercuts. Traffic should get back to a more normal flow now and I expect that the fish in the system will acclimate to it and the water conditions. With as many fish as there are in the system, we should wind up with a spectacular fall over all...
I've got today and tomorrow off at the moment (Chores today, sore moth some fish myself if I don't pick up a trip tomorrow.) and after that we've got tons of great Steelhead dates with either one or both of us open to book. Friday the 13th is a great day for a group trip for example! Sunday the 15th x1, 16th x2, 17th x2, 18th x1, 19th x1, 21st x1, 22nd x1, 23rd - 30th x2. x1 = one guide open and x2 = two, but please keep in mind that we have a large number of independents we can always call on if you'd like to do a larger group trip or a two boat trip on a day I show only one open...
We also still have some spots open for Argentina, the Bahamas and Alaska 2010, give us a call to inquire. 1-877-422-5394
Tight lines all,
Steve
