Twenty four days in a row and still counting…It has been a very busy guide season! Sorry for the delayed reports, but customers in the shop and boat come first at this time of year. We are extremely thankful for your business and love every minute of it!

The peak of the steelhead run has come and gone, but the run is not over. Trout fishing has been gaining momentum over the last week. In fact, we have caught a couple brownies on dry flies the last week. That is a GREAT time! However, there are still enough steelies around to play with and chrome in the holes/runs. You just have to work a little harder than two weeks ago…but who said steelhead are easy?

The river is running at normal levels and in the upper 40’s. Stones, Hennie and Bwo’s have been the go to dry flies over the last week. Fry patterns, stones, sparrows and pink estaz eggs have been the top producers for steelhead recently. It has been an awesome season and with all the fry; a huge reminder of the fantastic fall run of kings.

Please respect other anglers and their space. If in doubt, please ask…treat them as you would like to be treated. Ask before you drop your anchor, wade below another fisherman or fish through anglers. Please respect your fellow angler and respect their space…there are plenty of fish in the river!

The shop is open between 7:00am –76:00pm to reserve a day on the river, a Motel room or a Phone order…1-877-422-5394. The egg bite has been better then nymphs lately, but smaller nymphs have produced recently. Cream clowns (large and small), pink estaz eggs, early girl glow bugs close to spawners and fruity nuke eggs have been productive. On the nymph front; Fry, stones, Fry and fry patterns have fooled some fish the past couple weeks. Streamer fishing is gaining momentum, but is not there yet…too much food for the browns to eat with all the spawning steelies. However, there is an occasional rising trout to target on stones or BWO’s….dry flies in April??? YUP!!!

Below are some comments and photos of recent trips…

We are very excited for another spring season…we are looking forward to seeing everyone around the shop, Motel and river. Seeing old friends/clients and making new ones along the way. We have an incredible fishery here, so let’s get out there and enjoy it. We deploy several techniques during this time of year…bottom bouncing, floating line with indicators and (my personal favorite) streamers! Plus, we cater to every skill level…from very experienced anglers to beginners trying to learn the ropes. You are all welcome and will most likely walk away with some new knowledge or perspective. Give us a call…1-877-422-5394…we would love to have you!
