Fishing has been GOOD, but not what it was last week. I have been out the past couple weeks daily and experienced some incredible fishing. We have plenty of fish right now, but we were spoiled the last couple weeks…what can you say; 45 degree water in mid-march with lots of fall/winter fish.
The river is in great shape to wade and float; water temps are in the 50’s and a slight stain in the upper river. The lower river is still holding a decent stain and increased flows. Please be careful launching/retrieving your boats and wading the river. The river claimed an angler this week…God rest his soul!
Please respect other anglers and their space. If in doubt, please ask…treat them as you would like to be treated. Ask before you drop your anchor, wade below another fisherman or fish through anglers. Please respect your fellow angler and respect their space…there are plenty of fish in the river!
The shop is open between 7:00am –76:00pm to reserve a day on the river, a Motel room or a Phone order…1-877-422-5394. The egg bite has been better then nymphs lately, but smaller nymphs have produced recently. Cream clowns (large and small), pink estaz eggs, early girl glow bugs close to spawners and fruity nuke eggs have been productive. On the nymph front; Fry, stones, Fry and fry patterns have fooled some fish the past couple weeks. Streamer fishing is gaining momentum, but is not there yet…too much food for the browns to eat with all the spawning steelies. However, there is an occasional rising trout to target on stones or BWO’s….dry flies in March??? YUP!!!
Below are some comments and photos of recent trips…

03/25: Jim and James were back in the boat and we schooled some fish. James is an excellent angler for being in second grade…I wish I knew what he knows at his age and caught as many steelhead on the fly as him. James you are my hero! Great work and keep up the good work in school…you need high grades to be a good fishing guide!

James battled this buck on a direct drive reel!
03/26: Noah and I set sail in search of steel and found plenty. They fought hard, broke many lines, but we prevailed. It was great introducing you to streamers and I look forward to our next outing.

Steve and I are fired up for the season to begin and get back on the river every day. The shop is now open SEVEN days a week (7:00am to 7:00pm). Our spring inventory is in and the shelves are PACKED!!! Please stop by and stock up on all your spring fishing needs. We are very excited for another spring season…we are looking forward to seeing everyone around the shop, Motel and river. Seeing old friends/clients and making new ones along the way. We have an incredible fishery here, so let’s get out there and enjoy it. We deploy several techniques during this time of year…bottom bouncing, floating line with indicators and (my personal favorite) streamers! Plus, we cater to every skill level…from very experienced anglers to beginners trying to learn the ropes. You are all welcome and will most likely walk away with some new knowledge or perspective. Give us a call…1-877-422-5394…we would love to have you! “Winter Break” is OVER and it’s time to go to work…please respect other anglers enjoying the river.
