The egg bite has been better then nymphs lately, but that can change. The trout have started to rise to dry flies, but nothing has been consistent. Clowns (large and small), chartreuse, pink estaz eggs and fruity nuke eggs have been productive. On the nymph front, hexes, caddis, small stones and fry are good go-to patterns at this time of year. Streamer fishing is gaining momentum with the water temps in the mid-50’s. The fry hatch is on and fish are targeting then with aggression. Large and flashy patterns should get some attention. Change strip speeds and colors until you find the right tempo. I have been tying a ton lately and have developed some great patterns for this spring…now it’s time to teach them how to swim!
The shop is now open SEVEN days a week (7:00am to 7:00pm). Our spring inventory is in and the shelves are PACKED!!! Please stop by and stock up on all your spring fishing needs. We are very excited for another spring season…we are looking forward to seeing everyone around the shop, Motel and river. Seeing old friends/clients and making new ones along the way. We have an incredible fishery here, so let’s get out there and enjoy it. We deploy several techniques during this time of year…bottom bouncing, floating line with indicators and (my personal favorite) streamers! Plus, we cater to every skill level…from very experienced anglers to beginners trying to learn the ropes. You are all welcome and will most likely walk away with some new knowledge or perspective. Give us a call…1-877-422-5394…we would love to have you! “Winter Break” is OVER and it’s time to go to work…please respect other anglers enjoying the river.
