I have fished the PM before, just floated it for the first time last week on a guided trip, but have my own boat and want to float it myself. I know I can get a permit from BBT where is permit good for? Thank you in advance! Tight lines!

It's good for all the Federal access points. Pretty much everywhere except M-37, McDougals, Sulak and I think Walhalla.

I have heard many times on several forums about needing permits to float certain sections of certain rivers (PM for example). I was surprised to hear this but I guess it is to regulate the number of watercraft on the river. Is there some place that tells all of the rivers that need a permit? It would be my luck that I would want to float a river and then later find out that I need a permit to float it. Some insight would be helpful.
Thanks!

No, he's asking about parking permits and paying the parking fee. The float permits are free and are from like May 15 to Sept 10. (estimate). Those are to control the amount of watercraft traffic in the Summer, when all the party canoes are on the river every day. The parking fee is mostly to generate revenue for the US Forest Service.

With the float permits isnt there a set time that you can be on the water like 9am to 6pm and if so, does that apply to all watercrafts or only canoes?

Like so many things, yes and no. The way it was explained to me by the Forest Service was that the rule is no water craft on the River after 6:00 PM. He must have seen the look on my face, cause he then explained that if I am fishing, no one is going to say anything about it. This is a prime example of poor policy writing in action.
