ive been steelheading for a few yrs. now and this fall will be my first salmon season on the rivers. for steelhead i used the nymph or egg with an indicator system which worked well for me. how will this system work for salmon?? Also, I would like to buy a sink tip for my 8 wieght to cast streamers to salmon. So, what sink tip rate do you think is the best overall for medium sized rivers like the pm or white? and what are eveyone's favorite nymphs, eggs and streamers for salmon? Thank you

Indie rig works very well for salmon as well as steelhead, far as the sink tip goes i use a Jim Tenny T-200 sink tip line for fishing salmon and it has a sink rate of about 8" per sec. Works great on the Pm or any Mi river IMO.

Dont change a thing.
I use a lead head on my running line if I want to cast and sink a streamer. Check out Rio they make some great lines, I have used their DC Striper line and if their other lines are like that one you will be really happy. I would highly recommend looking into a sinking tip system as it will allow you greater flaxablity in using that system for many other situations, they are alot more money then a standard sink tip. Most line companies make them. Most of my fishing friends have them. Most of them love fishing a system line.
Flies to use are stones, latex caddis, PM wiggler, etc. I use brighter eggs in the early part of the run and pale them out by the end. Meaning bright yellow in the beginning then white eggs by the end. Bigger flies when there is a stain in the water, smaller sizes when the water is very clear.
good luck.
