About two weeks ago my wife and I went to the Keys for a vacation. I fished one day with Gabe Nyblad and had a great day. It was fairly windy and the water was a little cool (for tropical fish anyways) so we decided to throw bait with spinning rods. Good move for sure. Here are the pics of the fish.

I fished a little with the fly rod by myself a couple of different days but got skunked. It didn't matter though. We had a good time enjoying the warm weather and I made the rounds to a few bars in Key West one day.:D

great pics, which of the species do you think put up the best fight? I've heard permit can battle but tarpon seem faster in the videos I've seen

I would say the tarpon battled harder, first run seemed like 200yds in about 3 seconds. :D The permit and tarpon both had about the same stamina, but the tarpon had the weight advantage. Estimated at 110 lbs + vs the 23 lbs permit.

Thanks, that's what made this day so great is that they were all quality fish. Bone = 8-9 lb, permit = 23 lbs, tarpon = 110+ lbs

Did you catch the permit on a live crab? Thats a mosnster too. Nice work. There is something special about the permit.

I fished with Gabe three weeks ago and had a great time.
Although, we never landed the "big one".
I did have several very large tarpon take the bait.
One was at least 6 feet and 180lbs.
I had 5 break-off that morning.

It is always great to get away and fish and drink in the American Bahama's
Congrats!

Bonefish look like a cross between a sucker and a whitefish.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Yeah the permit ate a live crab. The other two ate live shrimp.

Yeah they kinda look like that. The third component is a long range missle. :D That first run is fast and long.
