Well folks, (Deep subject is the old and tired joke I usually toss in here, only this time, it truly is.) As most of you have figured out by now, my "reports" are as much a diary entry for myself as they are to inform you of all that's happening on the river and in my life, so I'm going to continue that tradition.

In my last note to you on the 15th I explained that I had been called away from the fly fishing show in Warren on Saturday the 12th for a family emergency, but thought that the worst was over and that I would be home in a matter of a few days...

The family emergency I spoke of was that my mother was in the hospital and in critical condition. For a while, the doctors thought that she stood a good chance at recovery and I was just sticking around down here in Florida to give her my love when she came out of sedation.

The long and short of this is that her condition turned for the worse and at just before 11:00 pm on Saturday the 19th my mother passed on to a better place peacefully and with all four of her children beside her, a couple of good friends and three of her twelve grandchildren. Her life was too short, but she suffers no more.

Now that more family has arrived we are having a send off in our own special way this evening and my wife Karen and I will return to Baldwin sometime late tomorrow afternoon. It's been a long hard eleven days for all of us and I only wish that I could relieve more of the burden on my sisters than I've been able to before leaving.

I'll be re-scheduling or giving away my trip for Thursday as I've had to with trips since this past Tuesday and instead, will be spending some time on the river with my dog Taz for myself. On Friday I'll start back to work and I am looking forward to it...

Some of you might find it strange or inappropriate that I share all of this with you, but I've made so many good friends over the years that I know will read my post. This has not only become my personal journal of sorts over the years, but it's also become a way to communicate with too many great people to personally write or call.

I know that many of you would rather this was a fishing report, but unfortunately, it can't be right now. I will try and get back to the normal reports and commentary sometime early next week... In the mean time, I hope everyone's season is going good so far, peace, love and tight lines!

Losing a close relative is always tough. I speak for many friends of yours and Karens when I state that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in your loss. No good person could ever fault you for taking the time to say goodbye to your mom - healing takes time and I could think of no better place to do it than on the water in your own time.
Hope this helps: Psa:29-3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters. (Except during snagging season)
Safe journey home and remember the good times.-Carl <><<<<<< <><<<<<<<< <><<<<<<<
