Flourocarbon????

I have always used 6# Maxima for leaders on the PM, unless the water was super clear then occasionally 4# but that was rare. I have heard so much about Flourocarbon line that I figure it's time to try it out. Can anyone recommend what brands have worked for them and do you usually stick to 6# or 8# for rivers like the PM, Big Man, Musk, etc... I have seen people use Seaguar and P-Line but I am not sure how they compare to the toughness of a line like Maxima. Any help would be appreciated.

I use both the P-line, and Seaguar (200yd spools, way cheaper) and have really good luck with them. Neither is as tough as maxima (not many are), gotta sacrifice somewhere. Personally I like the seaguar a little better than the p-line, it's a little more supple. My personal favorite is the RIO flouroflex plus, however it's quite pricey. The only time I pull that out anymore, is when the fish are spooky from being hammered or low very clear water. Maxima does have their own flourocarbon now as well, but I haven't tried that yet. Hope this helps! Good luck and tight lines. - Gunnar

The Maxima people sent me a couple of spools of 8lb Maxima flourocarbon to try out. Both Steve and I have been using it. It is a little stiffer than the Seagur and P-line. It seems to have good knot strength and abrasion resistance for a flourocarbon line.

We have it in stock in the shop in both small spools and the large filler spools.

I have been buying the Seaguar for a little over a year now, and have no problems with it. In fact, sometimes my 8lb Maxima breaks before the seaguar does. I have also bought the P-Line. IMHO I don't like it at all. It breaks (for me) way to easy.

Didn't know that Maxima has their own Floro. now, hmm. Will definatly be trying that out starting next monday.
