Stayed up in Baldwin for a week for my spring break Mar 15-20. I was worried that she was going to be blown, but given the weather (beautiful) and the sun (really bright) the water was perfect. I saw that everyone was posting about that week and I guess it should have been a good 'ol reunion, but I didnt see anyone I knew (besides guides) I suppose getting on the water after 12 noon everyday will do that to a fella though. We were steelhead fishing most of the time; I couldn?t get anything to move to eat a swung streamer so we stripped for trout with great results. A great way to spend some time away from school, although ive gone to CO for the past 6 years, Baldwin is a great alternative.

**All fish were released unharmed, only legal methods/tackle were used, and we let them do their thing when in the shallows** - So spare everyone

First couple times I got to feel some steel on my 12' 5wt (best indi rod out there) I was really impressed you can really work a bobber with this rod

More big bows and browns (I have never caught so many 14'-16' browns in a week)

That Echo is really sweet, i have had it for a year now but have only used it for trout on the MO and Smallies on the JO. It casts the line i have for it well, but its a traditional style taper and well its a 5wt and youve got to be really gentle. I hadnt used it to work bobs until that week and i was really impressed. I just had an 8wt nymph taper on it, and that was great for turning a bunch of stuff over. It just has so much more of that slow deep bend, which really responds well. I had been using my 11' 8wt on occasion for indi's and it just take a whole bunch of work to get that rig loaded up well. That rods light enough to make really good one handed rolls and simple speys, pretty much cant say enough good things about it for that application. Oh, and with the noodlie action to it you can use much lighter tippets if need be, that tip is oftly gentle. Its a blast and makes even the smallest of stockers a blast, and you can turn some bigger fish if used for that also.

Oh, and it costs half as much as that popular switch rod.
