Hi Guys, We're back and while Murphy, of "Murphy's Law", did follow us around for just about the entire trip, we still managed to have a whole lot of fun doing it!
Here's the "quick" break down... We (John & Heather, my wife Karen and I) drove over to Flint this past Friday to stay the night in a motel prior to a very early Saturday departure that would, in theory, put us on our final destination of Cat Island, Bahamas that very same afternoon. Once we arrived at the airport at like, 4am, we came to find out the storms in the south had everything messed up and, being some of "the lucky" ones, they could still get us out on like, Tuesday morning!!!!!!!
We searched and searched after getting that little piece of good news and wound up finding a flight out of Chicago on Sunday morning where we would still not make the afternoon flight over to the destination Island, but would at least make Nassau. OK, road trip! We all piled back into my wife's little KIA and off to Chicago we went.
We made the flights from there no problem, but found out that the little storms in the south we had here had also pushed some cold(er) weather over there as well and spent a chilly, albeit festive, night in Nassau on Sunday. (In other words, we still hovered around the Tiki Bar at the Hotel shivering that afternoon! ;^) We made the morning flight over to the Island on Tuesday, three days later than originally planned and actually had one of the warmer days to settle in...
Murphy continued to follow us after that however when, for most of what was left of our week, the conditions were not so good for bone fishing (Cold, Rainy, Windy, Overcast.) and, the only truck we had to use was having some major running problems. Still we found some really fun things to do like snorkeling/diving for Conch & Lobster as well as spearing some delicious fish and we still gave it the 'ole college try on the nearby flats a couple of times with some of the guys getting lucky... (Charlie and James actually did very well on the days we had missed and I've since found out that the conditions improved as soon as we left! ;^)
All in all it was still a fantastic get away and we had a lot of fun. My cousin Jim and his family put out some very good meals and made us feel right at home as usual. Scott and I took advantage of the "much warmer than Michigan" weather and got in a solid run every morning before destroying our efforts with festivities in the evening and on the last evening, we did wind up using a rental truck to get away from camp and go out to dinner. From what we could tell, the Island did have plenty more to offer.
Our flights home went wayyyy to smooth so, just so we didn't cheat Murphy any, we managed to get the keys locked in the car while getting a jump from a dead battery in Chicago and had to call AAA... Wound up getting home around 4am on Sunday and while it was a lot of fun like I said, I am really, really looking forward to some Steelheading now of my own as well as putting a few of you on some fish! Here's a little film I put together with all of the good stuff from our trip!

Incredibly, we still have lots of very prime Steelhead dates available to be filled as well as the awesome mixed bag Steelhead, Trout, Streamer, Dry Fly, Nymphing dates after that...
