Anyone have the GPS info for the launches / pull outs? I always forget to use my GPS and realized I don't have the river in my base map and my Gazeteer doesn't have the exact info I need.
I don't float the river enough to know it like the locals, and I always lose track of my float time. I am going to create a route using my Gazeteer, but I need the starting and ending points for a better map.
I know, kind of anal....but I always hate wondering if we are fishing too fast or slow.
OR.....does anyone have routes already created that I can use?
Appreciate any help....

I've found that my handheld Garmin doesn't get very good sattelite locks due to the amount of trees and hills when floating the river. Otherwise good luck.

Another problem is the twist and turns. There are places where it would take me all of ten minutes if that to walk to the take out cutting corners, but almost a full hour by boat...

I understand the twists and turns can be overwhelming for a handheld unit. I've experienced minor signal issues in the past while in the woods, but believe while floating down the river the signal should be good in the wider sections. (I could always take a couple large heluim balloons and 200' of line....nah, just kidding!)
Long story short, I found the information I needed from the following sources:
Microsoft's terraserver for ariel photo's to get the exact location!
Maptech's topography map version 6.5
and most importantly, updated my GPS map using Mapsource US Topo map
last but not least... the friendly PM Guide from the US Forestry Service to name all the locations I didn't know the proper name for.
I spent about 10 hours in finding the products to do it, and actually doing it, but I have already spotted several sections I have never tried before and learned a lot about the PM doing it! Hey, it's winter! Can't tie flies every night.
Anyone interested in the info?
Hey SpanishFly,
Your project is really intersting to me. I built a boat a few years back, but do not get to float every day like the pros do. I fish the MO and the PM mostly, and would love to get that information. Also, I haven't purchased the GPS yet, so I am interested to hear what your opinions are on the model and maps I should get. Once I get all of the stuff I would be happy to share data about the MO and PM and where ever else with you!
Thanks,
Ben
