I talked to Steve@BBT and he said it would be cool with him. So I have a idea to do some sort of "photo contest" here for the BBT site where I would build a custom fly rod for the winner of the contest and include their name inscribed on the rod and such. Not sure how we would do the "vote" yet but we can figure that out later.
So just want to see....would there be much interest in something like this here for you guys??
If so then we'll start working on how we could run something like this and what dates it would run to-from and such, as well as how we would choose a winner that would be fair to everyone.
Let me know what you guys think.

Sounds like a great idea......for the theme, one of Steves Custom Built Flyrods on a journey.:D
I asked Steve to build me a bullet proof 5/6 wt, 3 piece, last year. This is it making a trip around Osborn Mountain in Wyoming last August. We had just left the Roaring Fork River and were headed to a mountain lake just short of 11,000 feet. 8 Days, 40 miles, three rivers, 4 lakes.
She heads for Alaska in 30 days to spend a couple days fishing Pinks on Resurrection Creek, a two day drift on the Kenai for Reds and Rainbows, a 4 day wilderness hike, 12 miles along the Russian River fishing Rainbows, then either hike into a Grayling lake, or Peters Creek for Grayling.
Fishes great, even a hillbilly like me can catch a few fish with it.:)

I think it is a great idea. Will there be different catagories, fish, wildlife, scenery, etc? Just trying to get the thinking started. Who else has some thoughts?
Dang, a bunch of haters in here!;) :D Except for toland90, thanks for the vote! I already have enough rods built by Steve anyway...actually I could never have too many.
Seriously, there are a lot of good photos posted on here. It only takes that one great shot to win a contest and anyone can take it.
level the playing field and make the entry a diposable camera only. Put that in you camera and smoke it Vito:eek:
The man behind the camera makes the photo, not the camera.;) I used disposables for years...sure was cheaper!
i'm in.....figure out the parameters and post 'em....i wonder if the ole lady will accept this new excuse to go to the river?!?
I am in!
When are you thinking the deadline will be? Hopefully after fall:cool:

Stel, maybe after winter. Remember those awesome brookie photos from that guy ice fishing in the UP> or are these only to be river photos. You opened the can of worms Steel. Trying to get everyone thinking again, but I am in regardless. Happy Friday everyone!

Not sure of what dates we'd run it, thats something I'd see what you guys wanted it to be. You guys want to run it through the winter to include some winter steel and such? or you want to cut it off after the fall?

How does this soundto everyone for rules of the contest.
Pictures must have been taken between Jan1st-Dec 31st 2009
To enter you must be a member with say (40 posts) on this site (just to make sure the rod goes to an actual member of BBT's site and not just someone that joins to win a freebie and never be seen or helpful to anyone else on the site).
Only one picture per member submitted
Picture can be of fish, water, scenery, etc etc etc...
No photo shop work of pic to alter it (exception- can use PS or any program to clear up pic or adjust for better quality, but no adding things that weren't actual there when the pic was taken:D )
Anything else I'm missing that anyone else can think of?
Voting we will have to work on something to make it fair but we'll work on something so that the members actually have the say in voting so its not just me deciding on the winner that way its fair to everyone involved.

After a picture is submitted for the contest, can it be swapped out for a better one later? Or should we just wait until Dec. 31st to post the best one from the year?

Good question . . . I like seeing lots of fish porn. Let's encourage a lot of submissions early on, then let people swap out if they come up with a better photo. All swapping stops on Dec 31 . . . what do you think, Steve???

yeah, good point...i have noticed the porn dry up around here since the pic contest idea was raised....lets not let this great idea put a damper on our regularly scheduled fish porn...

lets make a "possable photo entry thread" and then come dec lets make a "Final Photo entry thread" that was for those that are somewhat lazy or forget to update that thread then the better the chances for someone else.

I know it's a little premature but a really cool BBT calendar could be made fairly cheap with the top 12 piks. Just a suggestion to throw out there. Any thoughts ?

I really like this idea fellas. I guess you can count me in, for ****s and giggles. I've seen some of the photo's on the site, and I would have to give think Vito will probably be a tough one to beat. This should be fun nonetheless.
