View Full Version : Trade driftfishing lesson for boatride?
Driften

I was on the PM on Teusday and Wednesday, and on the first day I fished at Mapleleaf. I watched a guy dead drifting spawn and doing quite well. I'm interested in learning this method, and wondered if anyone would be willing to trade a little spawn and some instruction for a ride in my driftboat?

Thanks for the reply Rhino. I fish flies, usually dead drifted on an indie rig, so I have a fair grasp of the concept involved, just not the nuts and bolts of the method. You can really learn a ton when you spend a day fishing with someone who knows their stuff. Everything from proper weight placement (this guy ran a series of split shot directly on his leader to get a vertical drift I guess) to how to cure spawn. I'm mainly a catch and release fisherman, but am not opposed to keeping a few now and then. I'd like to meet a few guys in the Detroit Metro area to hook up with to go fishing now and then. Most of my friends are in the same boat (pun intended) as I am, what with young families needing lots of their time and constraints at work making schedules hard to synchronize for a fishing trip. The end result being I end up solo-ing a lot. So, not only am I looking to broaden my horizons in terms of methods, but am also looking for potential fishing partners...
