my dad and i are going to try to make it up to the pm this weekend and maybe do a little night fishing. My problem is that we've never made it up to fish the hex or any other summer night hatch. could i get some help on whats hatching and easy quick patterns. i am descently skilled as a tier, however i mostly tie nymphs, bass bugs, and salmon steelhead flys. dry flies are not my specialty and i mostly go with ehc, adams, bwo, and pmd's in smaller sizes; i'm a little out of my element with this. help is greatly apreciated.

Check on www.schmidtoufitters.com. He has a couple patterns on his web page under "fly patterns". Also, if you did a google search for "hex patterns" you are bound to find something.
But, it would so much easier to just buy a dozen bugs, fish some and take what is left home and set them up on the fly tying table for patterns. BBT always has them in stock and they have some very good patterns too. You'll have fun, hex fishing is a great time.

i tied up some bears hex nymphs as well as a variety of dries. do to my limited experience with hex dries they might be a little .... unconventional. i came up with a large compara dunn in hex colors and a few way oversized double parachutes type fles and a spent wing similar to a spent wing hendrickson. i also tried all the suggestions but i usualy do better once i am able to look at a fly. maybe the dark will hide my mistakes.:D
