well, i have been looking around for some materials to tie traditonaly dressed salmon flies. Ive seen Kingfisher skins, which i was amazed were sold. Ive seen a variety of other feathers too.
but does anybody else know were to get some rare feathers, not too expensive. I need blue goose quills, an assortment of macaw in different colors, speckled and florican bustard and other things, a little to many to list.
i would like the real things too.:D

John McClain owns an exotic feather supply website/business called feathers mc. http://www.feathersmc.com/ My friend Bud Guidry whom you've probably seen/heard of if your into freestyle salmonfly tying uses John for all his exotic feathers
I'd Put Those In A Frame And Hang Them On My Wall!!

I would never tie those. I am amazed at how beautiful those flies are and the guys that tie these are artists. I, however, could never bring myself to put that much time in to a fly that I will probably lose on the first cast into a stream. My motto is the easier and quicker I can tie a certain pattern the more I like it.

If I figured my time into tying a fly (any fly) it would sell for $25.00.. Some people are just better off stopping into BBT and saying .."fill me up"
I doubt those flies will ever see water. More eye candy then anything.

Im just starting out tying the classics and freestyle (tied my first one in mid december). Once you tie one it becomes an addiction, I'm finding it harder and harder to tie flies for fishing. I get all of my materials from John McClain or off ebay. Check out www.classicflytying.com for more info, those guys will be able to point you in the right place.
