With the popularity of the story time and the favorite steelhead photograph threads I thought why don't we just combine the two into one thread and I could throw it up on here as a sticky. So if you have a photograph of any species of fish you would like to share then toss it up on here with or without a story to explain it. Sometimes the best photographs need no explanation. I will leave that up to you guys. Enjoy everyone...

Thanks,

Many of my shots were taken with a mid level Kodak point and shoot. After dropping it on rocks and in the snow too many times, I purchased a Canon S3 which is a higher level point and shoot. Most of my better photos were taken with this camera but my Kodak did very well for the price. Two weeks ago I purchased my first DSLR, a Canon XTi. Still learning how to use it but having fun while learning. It will only go in the boat and the S3 has been moved to wading trips which is a step up from the Kodak.

This is my favorite fishing (or any picture for that matter) that I have. It was taken back about 1990 in Grayling on the Au Sable river just below Gates lodge. That's a very young Steeldrifter on the left (about 18yrs old) and thats my dad on the right. I had just started fly fishing and my dad had never done it before so that was his first time fly fishing. Dad passed away a few yrs later in 1997 of prostate cancer at 52 yrs old. I have this pic blown up to about 8x11 and hanging in my rod shop/tying area. Dont think I ever will have a more favorite pic than this one.

Cool pic SD. I love pics that help you remember a special person or place. This pic of my brothers and father was also taken about 10 years ago on the banks of the Au Sable below Mio at an access that is special to us. I doctored it up to look like an old, worn out photo.

I was going to ask you Vito, if you were into photography, then i saw the link...nice my friend. I do believe that steeldrifter's picture is a memorable one, i wish i had more photos of my father and i fishing, same deal i got into it and he then followed. I can see why that would be an extremely cherished photograph.

Hey, I know where that was! You know most of those Lamprey scars come from Lampreys that live in there. That river is full of them. They are just those chestnut ones or whatever they are called that are native to the Great Lakes. Here is a story for you, I am not kidding about this man I seen it with my own eyes. Last summer a skam swims up to my buddy who is standing next to his drift boat and just sits there right by his feet. It had a Lamprey on it's back, so of course my buddy yanks the thing off and tosses it in the grass, where as the steelhead kind of turned on it's side to look up at him as it swam away. It was like the fish knew he would take it off and swam up to him to have it done. The thing had just gotten a hold of him as it had not even gotten through his scales yet. Craziest thing I ever seen. On a side not these big olive bunny leeches I had in my box caught some fish that day. Seemed some fish wanted paybacks...

Thanks PI. I do some amatuer photography and put that site together recently for my own amusement. I've definitely become more addicted to photography in the last 4 years.
