I had a discussion with Herb on a trip about the different dining options in the area. At that time, I didn't have anything to write down his suggestions but it would be nice to hear other opinions about the best food, best bar food, best quick food, best breakfast food, best place to take your family after you left them at the camper to go fishing, etc. Any ideas? For the best bet head to Ludington. There are several places to get a nice meal after a good day on the water. PM Steamers is a nice place with great food and a great atsmosphere, It is by the marina and car ferry(make reservations for Fri & Sat evenings). The Jamesport Brewing Co. Has really good beer (I rec. the ESB) and good bar type food, for an app. try the crabby onion. Scotty's also has good food, more of a family style steak and prime rib place. Hope this helps and enjoy dinner!! :D

The Government Lake Lodge just North of Baldwin is a pretty decent restaurant and bar. We have also eaten at a place on M-37 up by Wolf Lake that I can not remember the name of... it was even better. Both are worth trying and less of a drive than Ludington.

Club 37 on M-37 just past wolf Lake has a great menu, try the Walleye or the Prime Rib. Also, Emerson Lake Inn has great food and atmosphere as well.

You may also want to try Debbie's Sportsman Lounge. It's brand new and like 2 doors north of the Log Bar in the same block. It sounds like it's a mainly former Log Bar people that opened it and work there. Worth a try anyways.

The country critter in wahalla, those guy's know eggs! FYI the bathroom is smaller then an airline one thats freaky.

Dinner I went to the Big Star lodge on Big Star Lake. Very good food, the chops were tender and good, and a great place for bergers.

I dont eat lunch, as I go to fish the river and not eat!

Debbie's Sportsmans Lounge-

This is a real neat place under new ownership I understand. We ate there the other night and food was very good and reasonable prices. The best part is that it is decorated in fly fishing stuff with a trout fishermans taste. The bartender/waiter was a fisherman and he is the one who makes those cool looking T-shirts. I had to buy the one that said "Aint no nookie like a chinookie" :D

Government Lake, Big Star Lake Lodge, Club 37 when I have the energy otherwise its to Pompei for carry out or even the big grocery store on 37 just south of BBT and back to the Tarry for an early sleep before back on the river again.

Into my 24th year of doing it and loving it.

Club 37 all the way. Although there is an interesting place south of Walhalla toward Ruby Creek that has good prices and really get to mix with a real local crowd.

Don't forget Jones's. One hotdog'll do ya. We usually try to make a stop for icecream now and then.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the Main Street Cafe right in downtown Baldwin for breakfast! Great food, service and location...and the best waffles on the planet!

It's a good thing you got all that nourishment to help you haul in all those steelies the next day!
