I just read the DNR's forecast for 2007 and I'm getting fired up for the season (not because of the report mind you but because bow season opens in a week). What are people's views on this season? Are people changing strategy because of the poor rain totals and crops? are their any new products out there that a deer hunter must have? Just thought I would get a little banter going to see what other hunters are thinking? And of course, if you have any photos you want to share from last year, please post. Below is a photo of last year's hunt

Hey Norseman - to answer your questions: 1) Views = I think most everyone that reads this will either shoot or hunt with or near someone that shoots a nice buck, enough folks are "takin' a doe and lettin' bucks grow" for this to happen. Not enough are participating in proper deer managment, but enough to start making a differnce. Please everyone, shoot a doe and let the yearling bucks go. You will be rewarded if you have the guts to let a 2 1/2 year old go ~ in time! :)
2) Poor rain and/or crops = Have you seen the acrons this year? Massive bumber crop of white oaks acorns. Find them and you find deer. The deer may find the crops or bait you are sitting on, but they WILL find the acorns. Move to the oaks and you will find deer.
3) New products- must have = Norseman, PM me so I can tell you where to send a check. This is a must for all hunters and it will only cost you $9.95. It's called patience and it is almost guaranteed to work. I am selling this to others for $29.95, so I am saving you twenty bucks cause you sound almost as excited for the opener as I am!!!!! Good Luck and by safe............

3 more days.

Will be sitting (approx) 20' up a tree by 6:15 monday morning. Just went and bought my licenses last night.

As for taking a few does here and there. I always take at least one or two does a year off my buddies property. So far this year, he has seen (i think he said) 6 different bucks at the edge of his back yard. Not sure of the size though, but it's better than a few years ago, where we were only seeing the same two bucks running around.

Finally got out yesterday (DONT ASK) saw a small bodied buck with nice, tall antlers....he was moving away from the stand thru brush so no shot and no real count on tines....then another shadowing him....not sure if it was a buck or doe.....i am guessing it was a sub. male....small spike or somesuch.

Colors are starting to come on here in N. IN........will be out tonight....hope to have a few pics.

i cant seem to pull one in close enought for a shot. not that i can locate them well to begin with this morning i found a very fresh scrape with buck urin in the middle. i didn't see the deer that made the scrape only does and yealings, but it is exciting to see some activity. good luck out there:cool:
