When i go a fishin in the wilds (or huntin or walkin about the neighborhood ;) ) i carry my stainless 686 with me. being a stainless unit i dont worry about moisture should i/it take a soaking. I seal the rounds around the case and the bullet and the case and the primer with clear nail polish to seal out any and all moisture from the primer charge and powder charge.

My question is this.......has anyone done this before (or if not, thoughts and theories would be nice) and if so do the rounds shoot the same, also, does it leave a terrible residue in chamber/barrel from the nail polish when fired.

I have always figured it would work in theory, but as of yet haven't had to draw my weapon whilst out and about. (thankfully) So i dont know for certain. would hate to be in a position where it was needed and not have it work or not work properly or ruin my fine pea shooter.

I can not see any way around residue in the chamber. Snipers I worked with in the Army used that method occasionally.

Gotta give a shout out to the best marksmen on the planet!!

Iffn it is good enough for snipers, it should be good enough for what i am doing. If i need to use these rigs ......i guess i could just clean bore and chamber with acetone (nail polish remover) after a good douchin' with Hoppes #9.

Thanks for the thoughts, DW

NP, they just used normal cleaning solvent as I recall though.
