fished the fly water of the pm yesterday. the fishing was pretty good because most people were fishing gravel and left all the good holes to me. my first fish came to me after about a 100 foot walk and five casts or so, and it happened to be the best fish of the day. im assuming it was a young steelhead because of a size of about 20-22 inches. this fish slammed an egg i was throwing tied below a hex nymph which was my best producer for fair hooked kings. i dont think resident rainbows get quite that big in the pm and the fish was darker than most i have seen there. i just wish it was on my 5 wt. instead of my 9 wt. :) fish were very lineshy during the day even on 8 lb. test. only managed 3 good strikes from kings and landed one. many foul hooked fish unfortunately also. only bad things for the day were the remains of cleaned salmon at green cottage and the people that are already walking on redds and snagging females sitting on gravel by themselves. but it was a great day for me and ill be up again soon. pray for rain. ~Bill
