I took a 10 day trip and spent some of it on the east side but here is my west side report if anyone cares to read it.
Day 5
So after leaving oscoda I thought I would head to manistee and fish there so I thought. I hadn't fish the manistee piers in a good few years so when I got there I didn't know where I was. The ride there also was very interesting between dodging opposum and having to go literally under a tree across the road.

Anyways, I ended up waking up to late and decide it would be best just to trael outh and try a section of a river I know pretty good. I tossed everything in there from flies, spawn, hardware, and the kitchen sink with no hits. One fish did roll in front of me but that was all. I then headed over to ed's(aka Edb) but he wasn't there so I tried the piers. Didn't have any hits or anything but did see several nice fish taken from the boats.

day 6
Mournin came early, around 4:30, and we were off to see if we would beable to fish the big lake. We didn't even get the nose of the boat out and we were going over 5-6 footers. Ed decided it would be best to fish inside the harbour. we trolled and trolled with no luck. Ed then made a decision to swooped inside close to shore and then comeout and wammo, FISH ON!!!! I turned to a real screaming and knew this was the fish we were loooking for. I fought and the fish fought back. THe fish then headed towards a boat and I cranked her up and boated a beutiful 18.5 lb buck. The fish was taken on a tuxedo fly. After that all the boats swarmed us and we went somewhere else but never had anoter rip. That was it for the mournin so we headed back to eds campgroundso the my 6th night looked like it was going to another blow night but ed got a call from this friend telling us to get down to the port below where the wind wasn't bad. So we jumped in the truck and was on my week to trying to get my limit. Limits out of this port are common and have been happening within the last few weeks so my hope were high. So we started making our way out in 3,4 and the occasional 5 foot waves. we tried getting out to 200 feet of water but the waves kept growing and growing so we stopped and set up in 150 feet of water. Within minutes the first rod pop and I was into the first fish of the mournin which turned out to be a nice eater size laker. Into the cooler she went. we didn't have another hit til about an hour later and that turned out to be a dadny of a coho that went about 8 lbs. That was it for the night and we were on our way back to camp.

Day 7
Turned out to be another blow day and I decide to catch up onr rest...actually, slept til about 1ish...oops

I then said my thanks to ed and was on my way to the little river where I had been getting some decent reports of early kings. There I ran into my buddy Jon aka ausable steelhead. We chatted for a bit and he was off back to the city and I was on my way to another adventure. I was seeing lots of fishing but getting them to bite was another story. I through every fly that I had in my box and they just didn't want anything.

That night I headed to another river. When I arrived it was just me and I was in heaven. Within minutes I was surrounded by idiots snagging salmon and inclosing on me. I decided to let them have the river and get some rest. the next day was friday and I thought I would have the river to myself when I woke up, so I thought.

Day 8 I woke up to the wholecity with there brother and sisters fishing. Trying to find a spot was a challenge and when I did the fish did not want to cooperate. I only had one legal biter on a orange and chartruse egg. After I thought about it I decided it was time to head to college.

When I got to college I knew I was back at home where fishing would take place everyday but I was wrong again. It turns out I have only been fishing 5 days since I have been up here and the results aren't good. I have had 3 legal biters but they all either threw the hook instantly or took my cleo with them.

I did get to fish with my friend chris aka steelnice where chris went 0-1 and I went 0-2. All fish were legal biters and I would of landed my second fish but I thought I had it fouled hooked the hole time. Turned out just to be a big fish and when I saw it hooked in the mouth I loosened my drag and that fish took off. I didn't relize my drag was more loose then it should have been. Oh well..

So that's it so far. School is going GREAT. I have tons of friends that want to go fishing and there is even a few girls showing interest. So my goal for the year is to get them all into at least one king. I highly doubt i'll be on the river all that much this year because so far this first week has out done all of last year. So if you don't see me posting alot, don't freak out:)

Til next time..FISH On!!!

and don't let the snaggers get the best of you!

P.S. I appologize for the misspelling of some words. Just got a new puter and it's taking me a little bit of time to get use to and I am just sick of typing, lol
