Slotted beads

I picked up a pack of slotted beads now the question is what is the front the part with just the hole or the part with the slot. STUPID BEADS.

The hole only goes on the hook point first and the slot is on the rear then, to get around a tighter hook bend. Haven't used them personally yet but it seems like the logical way it would work.
