Went to woods this morning in hopes of getting my first deer of the year. I had to re-hang my stand as I took it down and was going to move it about 40yds but decided not too. So after hanging the damn thing (again lol ) in the dark. I realized that I had one of the better spots on the property. It's a natural funnel for the deer and so far this year, I have seen at least one deer ever time out walking the same area. There beddiing area is not very far from me either.
Sitting there watching the moon disapear behind the clouds wondering if the weather man was going to be right this time. Called for rain first thing this morning. I was releaved when it didn't rain at all. About 7:30 heard a buck grunt. Then look'd up and saw him come out of the marsh/tagg alders behind a doe. Grabb'd my grunt tube and hit it a couple times. He came within 40yds but couldn't tell what he was. He is either a spike or a 4pt. That doe trotted off past him and he was hot on her trail. I hit the grunt tube a few more times, but he just grunted back at me as he was leaving. That was it for the deer sighting this morning.
Not if it is the same buck or not, but found a new scrape this morning, no more than 20yds from my stand. That makes 6 scrapes within 40yds of my stand...............woooooooohoooooooo Now I just have to be out there at the right time, before gun season get's here. If not, he will go down with a shot from the rifle.......
