I just picked up some shotting line from Cabelas to run for chuck and duck method. The line is so slick I cant get my heavy butt section to tie together with the shooting line. Was able to tie the shooting to the backing using the albright knot but can't figure out what to do with the heavy butt section it just won't cinch down without slipping. Any suggetions?

Try this this wed suite. step by step

OR

Don't struggle with knots! Simply slide fly line into center of braided loop connector and secure with small shrink tube sleeve. Great for attaching shooting tapers, lead heads, backing, and leaders.

Available in two sizes in clear (regular or floating) or hi-vis yellow. The 30# connector is for Fly Lines 2-7wt and the 50# is for Fly Lines 8-15wt. 4 connectors to each pack.

Regular style: $5.95 Floating Style: $6.95

Here's another good suite;

I agree with Flyfishbob. The leader loops work great. Especially if you've ever broken off everything in the middle of Feb. and are stuck trying to tie some kind of nail knot while standing waist deep in icy waters while your hands are turning purple! I've been using them for a few years and have never had one slip on a fish. I lost one to an Oak tree once on my 3 wt. but that's a different story!

If you don't like the loops, try tying a Uni-knot with the butt section to attach it to the running line. It's not a bad temporary fix, even though a nail knot would work the best. Good luck...

Depends on what kind of shooting line? If it's Zip line, the stuff we use, the braided loop won't work either. We usually set up the shooting line rigs with either a TIGHT Albright or, in the case of Zip line, a blood knot...

try a perfection loop at butt of leader and attach runningline with a castwell knot from flyanglersonline.com section on knots.first time i tried it i thought i was nuts.so simple can be tied at night by feel.NEVER had it fail despite abuse from endless big fish.
