in the area you are hunting?

Just a little curious if anyone is seing any rutting activity yet? I talked to my buddy a few days ago and he found a scrape 30yds from my stand. Of course its behind me, and I have no shot behind me. He also seen a couple of rubs not far from my stand as well.

On the other property that hunt (his boss's), they seen some smaller bucks chasing some does around. Nothing hot and heavy, just the little guys trying to get a head start, before the big boys start pushing them around.

I was bow hunting last weekend and noticed a few rubs and scrapes by my stand. Not much activity happening until sundown. I had three doe walk down an area to my right that is not typically used as a run. I figured they were spooked or on my scent until I heard a low grunt about 25 yards behind them. They continued past me paying close attention behind them. Minutes later I saw a nice 8 pointer step out from behind them with his nose pointed directly at them. By then, it was getting a little too dark to safely shoot so I watched as he stayed close to the run. He never did stray from the run like the doe. Looks like pre-rut activity, another week or so and that buck will follow them anywhere.

There are two new fresh scrapes within 30 yards of my stand, but I am pretty sure I shot the maker of them two nights ago.... a state land 6 point.

I have been seeing new/fresh scrapes since the 17th,,I have a couple nice
bucks on the trail cam, Now I just have to be there when they are..
I'm on vacation from Nov. 4th til the 17th, so I should have time to
at least get a crack at one of them...the rut is just starting, it'll just get
better and better from here on out.

I'd be encouraged by the scarpe and rubs. There is a buck in your area. 30 yards behind you may be just perfect...depending on the wind. Oftentimes ( more often than not) a buck will mill 20-30 yards from the scrape...maybe right in your shooting lane!!!

Bucks have been traveling together the last two weeks. We harvested a 7pt last night, and a 6pt 10 days ago. All were traveling with other bucks. No sign of rut yet, but should see some soon.

Gman-

Yeah it that would be perfect, there is no way that I can shoot behind me. Two many branch's from the oak that i'm in, and alot of tag alders around me, plus other oaks. I have a few small windows that are just off my left shoulder that I could squeeze a arrow, through, but is about it. All my shots are in fron of me.
