Has anyone fished steelies with tube flies? Do they work well? Any good references online or recommended books that would teach me how to tie these things and give me basics to the tube fly...kind of like a "Tube Flies for Dummies"? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

i have not cought a steel on a tube fly yet but hopefuly will sooner or later. it real easy to tye on tube flies you can tye nymps and streamers etc on the tube. what you got to rember is when you wrap around the shank. you do the same thing with the tube as the shank of the hook the tube becomes the shank of the hook. you can tye all the same pattrens on a tube that you tye on a hook so what ever your favorite pattren is go for it.
good luck and tight lines rhino...................

Tube flies are easy to tie if you have the right adapter for your vise. Just remember that only single hooks are alowed in flies only streams.

I tied some up for last years trip and they worked as advertised. I am not sure that they were any more effective than traditional streamers, but it is a cool idea.
