Made it up to the PM yesterday for most likely the last trip of the season for steelhead. Fished the liely runs and pools with out touching a 'head. then about 1/2 before dark found a pod of 10 or so fresh fish on and below gravel (not my favorite location, but when it's the only thing going). long story short these fish were very aggressive, no lining here! Made a nice cap to a good season. On a side note has anyone else noticed a high number of small fish mixed in with the steelhead about 16-20", and they look much more like resident trout then lake fish. I haven't noticed this in past years?

Look at those smaller fish closely. For the most part, most of them have spawned. There are an awful lot of them out there that look like stream rainbows, but I believe they are 1 yr. lake fish. Meaning they are two years old rather than three years old. Makes good sense as I think it means there is good survival in different year classes. The only thing we are missing are the fish that stay out for 4 to 5 years. Don't know why they don't exist, they should. Then you have the fish that DREAMS are made of.

Just some of my thoughts on the subject.....

I tend to agree with you. Although I have caught some nice resident 'bows in the past, I've never seen this many and all at once it seems. Hopefully it means some rather big fellas in the next year or two!
