Wondered if anyone has experience with the Tioga reels? Looking for a reel on a Salmon/Steelhead setup; Chuck n Duck and Indy rigs. Need something that I can afford on a college student salary, I have seen good things in posts from TSS and others. Have read some other posts on sites about Teton going out of business, filing Chapter 11. Don't know if that was reliable info or not.

I also wondered what the folks at BBT thought since I see they carry the Teton line of reels.

Thanks in advance

We have sold a tremendous number of the Tioga reels. Both the 8LA and the 10LA. I bought one of the 10LA's when they first came out to see how they would hold up with guiding. The reel worked great. Good drag and good finish.

As far as I know we have not had any of these reels come back for repairs. I did have the handle on mine come loose once but Jay fixed that and not a problem since. The only thing I have found to be a problem was the reel would freeze up in extremely cold weather. Not bad but enough to be annoying.

Whether they are in bankruptcy, I do not know. I could probably call Craig Harris and find out as he keeps his ear open to what is going on in the industry.

For a good relatively inexpensive reel, you can't beat the Teton Tioga. We put a lot of packages together with that reel on a popular rod. No complaints that I know of....

I highly re-recommend the Harris Solitude reels. Best reel for the money and will hold up to any abuse you can dish out.

I have 2 teton tiogas and have been very happy with them. Fought and landed many fish without any reel problems(somtimes there has been user error!)

Good bang for your buck!

I have owned 2 of them. I currently have one on my 4 wt and have had no problems with it. The one that I had on my 6 wt was replaced with a Ross. No complaints.
